my inspiration

I have always wanted to go into the field of medicine as far back as I can
remember. Only until starting college did I decide to head in the direction
of nursing, which would be a way to touch so many peoples lives not just
directly but through their friends and family as well. Overcoming obstacles
in my life has been second nature next to breathing for the past 10 years;
when my mother became a severe alcoholic and I was on my own, to make my own
decisions and put myself through college as well as deal with any other
detours along the way (taking care of my younger siblings was one of them).
I have always appreciated my hard work and dedication with the pay off and
satisfaction to see the person I have become today. Sometimes we get wrapped
up in our own problems that we disregard others. One of my instructors in
the nursing program shared a tragic experience that happened to her and will
now affect her for the rest of her life, because she was saving someone
else’s life. Her story affected me in more ways than I can begin to
describe, and she will always be my inspiration for giving life to save
other lives, and to remember the thought that although each one of our lives
can be difficult at times, there is always someone else’s that may be
worse, so I will always be grateful that I have been given the opportunity
to make someone else smile, be healthy, and be able to enjoy the life they
deserve.
